The grand finale of the third edition of the Club Miss Tourism Ghana took place at the National Theatre last Saturday with Miss Priscilla Asare emerging as the ultimate.
Priscilla, an undergraduate of the African University College of Communications (AUCC) in Accra, dazzled her way through to the top with fantastic performances that occasionally drew applause from te audience and higher marks from the judges¬¬- Mrs Caroline Antwi, Kofi Apkabli, Philip Norlin, Charles Nii Ayiku, Mrs. Rita Buckner and Chester Annie.
Before a packed crowd which included the minister of tourism,Hon.Akua Sena Dansua, and the Zimbabwean High Commissioner to Ghana, Mrs.Pavelyn Tencial Musaka, all the contestants took the stage one after the other to lay bare their talent.
This included their knowledge about tourism in the country and the world at large, catwalk, their articulacy and elegance, as well as their individual plans to enhance the touristic potential of the country.
Nonetheless, Priscilla appeared to wow the audience and judges with her deliveries, which earned her a place among the final top five to gun for ultimate prize-alongside Emefa Akosua Adeti,Patience A. Avorgbedor,Golda Aba Dayi and Jennifer A Annan.
These five Contestants were fantastic and answered their questions very creditably,to which the atmosphere was created for one of the fiercest duels in the annals of the pageant.
But at the end, Priscilla was announced as the double-winner of the ‘miss Talent and Miss Personality’prizes with its accompanying cheques of GHC200 each, as Golda Aba Dayi picked the prize for Miss Elegant with a Cheque of the same amount.
‘Miss Darling Hair star went to Patience A.Avorgbedor with a cheque of GHC500, Miss Swimwear went to Jennifer A.Annan with a cool cheque of 200gc while Miss Beautiful Skin went to Michaella Araba Etwire with a cheque of GHC200.
Priscilla was eventually crowned as the 2011 Club Miss Tourism Ambassador picking the mantie from her predecessor Charlotte Sika Quagrine who won last year.
In an interview after her crowning,Priscilla told ‘spectator Agoro’that she would do her best to deliver on her responsibility ”which is to promote Ghana’s tourism by working closely with the Ghana Tourist Board(GTB)to help develop some of the tourist sites which have been over looked”.
Priscilla walked away with a car, an unclosed sum of money, an LG television, a one year sponsorship from both darling hair products and DaViva Fabric, among others.
